Umbagog Lake located on the ME/NH border, is one of the states wild, undeveloped lakes. It is a great place to get away from crowds and commercialism. It's a wonderful place to see wildlife; there are moose, lots of waterfowl and even a few eagles. Despite its wilderness setting, it's easy to get to off of Routes 16 and 26. There is a free boat ramp near the Errol dam, and another public ram on the south shore. Fishing for Brook Trout is possible from early May until the water warms. Conservative numbers of Landlocked Salmon can be found here. Warm water fishing is good year round with very good Smallmouth Bass fishing. Umbagog is an interstate water and is governed by special regulations, available where fishing licenses are sold.
Umbagog Lake is a wilderness lake located in Coös County, New Hampshire and Oxford County, Maine. It is one of the most pristine lakes in the state of New Hampshire and lies near Errol, New Hampshire and the Thirteen Mile Woods Scenic Area along the border with Maine.
