Although Silver Lake is managed for both Smallmouth Bass and Lake Trout fishing, it's the Smallmouth Bass that excel here. Smallmouth Bass were first stocked here in 1951 and, according to the NH fish and game Dept. survey, have established a good fishery. Chain Pickerel and Yellow Perch provide good ice fishing, but many fisherman overlook the Yellow Perch and Chain Pickerel in favor of the Lake Trout. Landlocked Salmon were once stocked, but that practice was discontinued due to poor returns. Now yearling Rainbow Trout are stocked. The 7 mile shoreline is moderately developed yet heavily wooded. The forests plus the nearby mountains make this a scenic locale. The 2 access points are publicly owned. Average ice-out is in mid April. One is located on the southern most point at the West Branch outlet dam, the other is located on the Northwestern side along Rt. 41.
