A good population of Largemouth Bass and lower numbers of Smallmouth Bass exist in Highland Lake. Experienced anglers and those taking the time to get to know the lake experience good Bass fishing. The shoreline is mostly wooded and highly developed and there are extensive shoal areas in Highland Lake. Those planning to ice fish here should be aware that there are many springs located around the lake and that traveling with ski mobiles can be very dangerous. The best access is at the south end of the lake just off Rt. 123.
