Hastings Pond Description
This is a fertile, 20-acre, warm water pond located one half mile southeast of Warwick center on Hastings Road. There is no public access. The land is posted. The pond has a maximum depth of 34 feet, averages 15 feet, and has a bottom of gravel and muck. Emergent aquatic vegetation covers about five percent of the surface area. Fish Populations: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, golden shiner, bluegill, chain pickerel and brown bullhead.
Except for the chain pickerel, which offer a limited sport fishery, this pond is overpopulated with stunted pumpkinseeds and yellow perch. There is a good golden shiner population, which should provide an excellent forage base for pickerel, but few legal size pickerel were sampled.
